FANGCHENGBAO has officially launched nationwide online reservations for its highly anticipated super hybrid off-road SUV, the BAO 8, starting on October 12.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FANGCHENGBAO, a premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under BYD, has officially launched nationwide online reservations for its highly anticipated super hybrid off-road SUV, the BAO 8, starting on October 12, according to a post on the brand's WeChat account.

Priced between 400,000 yuan and 500,000 yuan in the intention pre-order, the vehicle has already begun arriving at dealerships across the country. Customers can place orders through FANGCHENGBAO's official WeChat mini-program or app, with a 3,000-yuan deposit securing priority production. Buyers will also have the option to customize interior and exterior colors and choose between six- or seven-seat versions.

The BAO 8 embodies the brand's futuristic "Cosmic Universe" design philosophy, showcasing a sleek "Starship Aesthetic." It is available in three exterior colors—energetic Star Moon Silver, elegant Dawn Gold, and commanding Shadow Black—each lending the vehicle a distinct personality. The car's high-gloss paint adds a striking shine, depth, and vibrancy to its look.

Inside, the BAO 8 exudes sophistication, with refined design details like a central air vent featuring the brand logo, real wood trim, and a 128-color ambient lighting system that envelops the cabin in a cosmic ambiance. The futuristic starship-inspired control lever further enhances the driving experience, urging drivers to tap into the vehicle's exhilarating performance.

The interior also offers two color schemes—Wild Wheat Yellow for a rugged feel and Night Black for a sportier vibe. Over 90% of the cabin is wrapped in premium leather, providing a soft and luxurious touch. For audiophiles, the BAO 8 is equipped with an 18-speaker Devialet sound system for an immersive listening experience.

Built on the 2.0 DMO (dual-mode off-road) platform, the BAO 8 offers flexible seating configurations, with both six- and seven-seat layouts. When the third row is folded down, it converts into either a spacious four-seat or five-seat arrangement, with a maximum trunk capacity of 1,130 liters.

In terms of power, the BAO 8 pumps out a nearly 750 horsepower, 550kW of combined power, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.8 seconds. Its hybrid system provides a combined range of over 1,200 kilometers.

The model also features the full-function DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, which allows for adjustable height, stiffness, and damping, along with advanced "active preview" and four-wheel linkage capabilities, enhancing both handling and ride comfort while improving off-road maneuverability.

On the technology front, the BAO 8 is equipped with FANGCHENGBAO's exclusive intelligent cabin, featuring Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving system (ADS 3.0), BYD's DiLink 150 smart cockpit, and seamless smart entry and connectivity. It is also the world's first vehicle to support UWB phone car keys compatible with Huawei HarmonyOS, Apple IOS, and Android systems, as well as NFC car keys across all three mobile phone systems.

Safety is a priority, with Huawei's advanced technology providing comprehensive obstacle avoidance, including forward, side, and rear collision prevention. A 300-meter infrared night vision system enhances visibility in low-light conditions, and passive safety features such as 14 airbags come standard across the lineup.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
