Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In September 2024, Yueda Kia, the joint venture between Kia Corporation and China's Yueda Automobile Group, achieved a sales volume of 21,958 vehicles, marking a year-on-year jump of 32.2%, continuing its streak of four consecutive months with sales surpassing 20,000 units, according to a post on the company's WeChat account.

The company's vehicle production reached 22,200 units in September, reflecting a 17.6% year-on-year growth.

For the first nine months of 2024, Yueda Kia's cumulative sales hit 176,201 units, already exceeding its total sales for 2023, with a 57% growth compared to the previous year. During the same period, its vehicle production totaled 171,360 units, a significant 78% spike over the previous year.

In terms of product updates, Yueda Kia has introduced several new models this year, including the K3 Special Edition, the entry-level SUV Sonet, and the 2025 Kia K5. These new releases have helped solidify the company's market position in the fuel vehicle sector. Notably, the 2025 Kia K5, hitting the market in September, features enhanced smart safety and comfort configurations, bringing high-end features previously reserved for top trims to more affordable versions, boosting its overall value for customers.

Yueda Kia is also accelerating its electrification strategy by expanding its lineup of new energy vehicles (NEVs). Following the launches of the EV5 and EV6, the company has introduced the long-range version of the EV5 this year.

The EV5, a special model celebrating Kia's 80th anniversary, is the brand's first vehicle to debut and be manufactured in China, with global sales. The EV5 is already being exported to developed markets such as Australia and New Zealand, as well as key markets like Thailand, Qatar, Chile, and Colombia.

Yueda Kia is actively building its export base, supported by Kia and the Yancheng government. The company's Yancheng 4.0 intelligent manufacturing plant has demonstrated strong production capabilities. Yueda Kia now has a robust export lineup, including the EV5, Sportage, Seltos, K5, Sonet, and Pegas, with export sales surpassing 300,000 units so far and a cumulative export value of over $3.6 billion. The company's products are now sold in 76 countries, spanning regions such as Asia-Pacific, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Latin America.

In addition to complete vehicles, Yueda Kia has also made significant strides in its engine export business, with over 300,000 engines exported to countries including South Korea, Russia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, India, and Vietnam. Looking ahead, Yueda Kia plans to further expand its vehicle and engine export scale, aiming to increase the number of countries it exports to beyond 80, with an annual goal of reaching 170,000-vehicle exports.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
