Copper Bar Market Operating Rate Edges Up in September Amid Holiday Stockpiling, Despite Seasonal Slowdown

The operating rate of the copper bar market rose slightly in September compared with the previous month. According to SMM, due to the seasonal off-season in the refrigeration industry, such consumer demand decreased, and the orders for continuous casting bars declined rapidly. Except for a high-precision copper bar enterprise, the orders of most other large-scale enterprises decreased. However, due to the longer National Day holiday this year, downstream enterprises had a greater demand for stocking before the holiday. Coupled with the rise in copper prices at the end of September, they had a certain fear of rising prices. The orders of small and medium-sized enterprises performed well, so the overall order volume increased. On the whole, the increase in the operating rate in September was mainly due to the stocking before the holiday by downstream enterprises, and the overall consumption level did not improve significantly.
