In September 2024, China's LiPF6 production increased by 12.6% MoM and 21.4% YoY. This growth was mainly due to the rise in end-use market demand and overall industry demand, leading to an increase in the operating rate of LiPF6 plants compared to the previous month. In September, LiPF6 prices rose due to factors on the raw material side, with downstream buyers being cautious and orders mainly on a spot sale and production basis, keeping inventory levels low. Additionally, the operating rate of battery cell enterprises improved compared to August, allowing LiPF6 plants to flexibly adjust production according to market demand, resulting in significant production growth.
In September, the prices of lithium carbonate and lithium fluoride both increased, leading to adjustments in LiPF6 prices. Changes in raw material prices gradually transmitted to LiPF6, with the average price rising from 53,950 yuan/mt to 54,875 yuan/mt, an increase of 1.7%.
Looking ahead to October, end-use demand is expected to rise, driving increased demand for LiPF6. China's LiPF6 production in October is expected to grow by about 3% MoM and approximately 44% YoY.
