Beijing (Gasgoo)- On September 27, Great Wall Motor (GWM) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with AI tech firm ModelBest to jointly develop and apply AI large models in the automotive industry.

This partnership aims to leverage GWM’s AI large model technology and data resources, while integrating ModelBest’s full-stack expertise in edge-side large models with GWM's technological stacks. The goal is to accelerate the implementation of large models in vehicles and support GWM’s smart mobility and user service innovations.

GWM established its advanced AI division, TCAL, in September 2023, building a comprehensive AI technology system. In December, GWM publicly showcased its first large model product, Coffee GPT. As the application of these AI models in vehicles progresses toward mass production, the need for enhanced model services has grown. In April 2024, GWM launched its Jiuzhou Supercomputing Center with a total computing power of 1.64 EFLOPS, providing a strong foundation for the development and deployment of AI models.

ModelBest, on the other hand, is known for its MiniCPM series edge-side large model, which delivers world-class performance through small, efficient models. By continually improving the knowledge density of these models, ModelBest has overcome key technical challenges, driving the integration of large models with automotive systems. This collaboration is expected to enhance real-time, personalized in-car experiences, meeting diverse user needs with greater efficiency.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
