Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited ("BYD") announced on the first day of October that its automobile sales reached 419,426 units in September 2024, jumping 45.91% over a year ago and rising 12.42% over the previous month.

It is worth mentioning that BYD saw its monthly vehicle sales exceed the 400,000-unit mark for the first time in the month.

Of the vehicles sold last month, 417,603 units were contributed by the passenger vehicle (PV) sector, representing a year-on-year leap of 45.56%. Breaking down the August PV sales by powertrain solutions, the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment recorded a sales volume of 164,956 units, indicating a 9.1% growth over the previous year, while the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales soared 86.17% from a year earlier to 252,647 units.

In addition, BYD reported a sales volume of 33,012 PVs for its overseas markets in September, showing a 17.7% year-on-year jump. Of those, 30,512 units are created by the export business.

In the same month, the company's commercial vehicle (CV) sector sold 1,823 vehicles (+230.85% YoY), including 306 buses.

As for the performance of specific brands or product ranges, BYD's Dynasty and Ocean ranges together sold 401,572 vehicles in September, displaying a robust year-on-year growth of 46.7%. Moreover, DENZA, FANGCHENGBAO, and YANGWANG brands logged vehicle sales of 10,299 units, 5,422 units, and 310 units, respectively.

For the first three quarters of the year, BYD saw its cumulative sales jump 32.13% over the year-ago period to 2,747,875 units, including 2,736,401 PVs (+32.18% YoY).

On September 25, BYD celebrated the rollout of its 9 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) at its factory in Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, Shenzhen city, making it the first automaker in the world to achieve this milestone.

This accomplishment comes just over two months after BYD produced its 8 millionth NEV, underscoring the company's rapid acceleration in the electric vehicle sector.
