Beijing (Gasgoo)- At the 2024 World New Energy Vehicles Congress, Geely Auto Group CEO Gan Jiayue announced that the next generation of its NordThor Power hybrid powertrain technology will be launched later this year.

This new hybrid system reflects Geely's commitment to cultivating advanced production capabilities and expanding its presence in the smart electric vehicle market. The next-gen hybrid engine boasts an impressive thermal efficiency exceeding 46%, allowing vehicles equipped with it to achieve a range of over 2,000 kilometers on a full tank and battery. Notably, the minimum fuel consumption has entered the "2L" era.

Geely has already unveiled the world's first motor test bench capable of reaching 30,000 r/min. With a rated power of 300 kW and peak torque of 250 N·m, this test bench features high precision control, excellent dynamic response, and low rotational inertia. It includes advanced components such as a 1,200V battery simulator and temperature control systems, enabling comprehensive testing across multiple voltage platforms.

In battery technology, Geely has introduced the ultra-safe, durable, and fast-charging Aegis Short Blade Battery, first applied in the Galaxy E5. Measuring 580mm in length and with an energy density of 192 Wh/kg, it has a lifespan of 3,500 cycles and charges from 10% to 80% state-of-charge in just 17 minutes. After 921 charge cycles, the Aegis battery maintained 90.5% health, confirming its status as the next-generation solution.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
