2024 National Day Holiday Production Schedule for Zinc Oxide Companies [SMM Analysis]

SMM, September 29: With the National Day holiday approaching, SMM conducted a survey on zinc oxide enterprises' holiday plans. This zinc oxide survey included 18 companies, with a total capacity of 453,800 mt per year, affecting zinc consumption by 110 mt. The survey showed that most enterprises will maintain normal production during the National Day holiday, with only four companies planning to halt production, which is roughly the same number as last year, though the number of days of break for the holiday has decreased. According to the SMM survey, zinc oxide orders in the ceramics sector remain sluggish due to the real estate market downturn. Although feed-grade zinc oxide orders increased slightly MoM during the traditional peak season, the growth was limited. Orders for rubber tire-grade zinc oxide remained stable, supported by semi-steel tire segment. Overall, zinc oxide orders this year were mediocre. Some zinc oxide enterprises chose to halt production during the National Day holiday due to poor orders and profitability. With no significant improvement in overall demand, companies remain cautious about the future market. Regarding raw material inventory, due to the recent strong rise in zinc prices, some zinc oxide enterprises have stocked up on raw materials, but not significantly, aligning with their holiday production schedules.
