Beijing (Gasgoo)- On September 24, Chinese new energy vehicle maker Leapmotor officially launched its C10 and T03 models in Europe, marking the company's entry into the European market. The global media test drive event in Milan, Italy, highlighted Leapmotor’s international debut.

In October 2023, Leapmotor formed a global strategic partnership with Stellantis, a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a leading global automaker and an emerging Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) company. The two companies established a joint venture, Leapmotor International, with Stellantis holding 51% and Leapmotor 49% of stake. This partnership aims to boost Leapmotor’s sales outside Greater China by leveraging Stellantis’ global presence.

Leapmotor International is positioned to help address global warming by promoting NEV adoption worldwide. Stellantis will benefit from Leapmotor’s innovative and cost-effective NEV ecosystem, which aligns with Stellantis' "Dare Forward 2030" electrification strategy. The companies also plan to explore further collaboration opportunities.

Leapmotor's NEV lineup complements Stellantis’ current technological advancements and iconic brands, offering global customers more affordable mobility solutions. Leapmotor International plans to expand its global sales network to 350 outlets by the fourth quarter of 2024, with a goal to release at least one new model annually over the next three years.

By the end of this year, Leapmotor’s European market reach will include Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK, supported by Stellantis’ sales network and brand management.

From the fourth quarter of this year, Leapmotor will also enter the Middle East and Africa (Turkey, Isreal, French Overseas Territories), Asia-Pacific (Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal), and South America (Brazil, Chile).

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
