MATenergy, a Chinese startup in flexible solid-state electrolyte film materials for solid-state batteries, recently completed an angel round of financing with tens of millions of yuan raised.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- MATenergy, a Chinese startup focusing on R&D of flexible solid-state electrolyte film materials for solid-state batteries, recently completed an angel round of financing with tens of millions of yuan raised, according to a post on the company's WeChat account.

The funds raised will be used for the construction of a new production facility, including a mass production line for flexible ceramic solid-state electrolyte films and experiment lines for fireproof and heat-insulating ceramic fiber material and all-solid-state batteries.

Many industry insiders view solid-state batteries as a safer, more energy-dense, and higher-performing alternative to current mainstream liquid batteries, offering broader temperature adaptability. As a result, solid-state technology is widely regarded as one of the next-generation battery solutions.

Founded in 2024, MATenergy's core research and development team hails from Donghua University and Soochow University. The founding team has more than a decade of research experience, with the commercialization of their technological innovations beginning in 2018. The company has already filed over 20 national invention patents and is steadily building a robust intellectual property portfolio.

MATenergy specializes in high-performance flexible ceramic solid electrolyte films and fireproof, heat-insulating ceramic nanofiber materials, while also advancing production technology for all-solid-state lithium batteries. The company is committed to delivering innovative solutions in fire safety, battery security, and solid-state battery technology.

In the solid-state battery sector, MATenergy employs an oxide-based approach and has successfully developed continuous roll-to-roll production technology for ultra-thin flexible solid electrolyte films. These films are also compatible with current liquid lithium battery production lines. Additionally, the company has developed proprietary formulas, processes, and equipment for solid electrolyte membranes and operates a pilot production line for fireproof ceramic materials and ceramic solid electrolyte films.
