Zambia's Kansanshi Copper Mine Suspends Operations After Fatal Accident, Awaits Safety Assessment

First Quantum Minerals Limited of Canada said on Monday that the operations in the area of the accident have been suspended due to a fatal accident at the Kansanshi copper mine in Zambia. The accident site was immediately protected and the operations in the area of the accident have been suspended. Operations will resume once it is determined that it is safe to do so. The Kansanshi mine produced 134,827 tonnes of copper and 68,970 ounces of gold last year, and has faced safety challenges in the past.
