Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 23, BYD announced the simultaneous market launch of two new compact SUVs: the Sealion 05 DM-i and the second-generation Song Pro DM-i. These sister models are aimed at the growing demand for electrified SUVs in the Chinese market, both featuring advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technologies.

The second-generation Song Pro DM-i is available in four variants, with prices ranging from 112,800 yuan to 142,800 yuan. Sold through BYD's Dynasty network, the new SUV boasts a refreshed design based on the brand's "Dragon Face" aesthetic. The front end features sharper, blacked-out headlights and an aggressive trapezoidal honeycomb grille, flanked by fang-like accents for a bold appearance.

The side profile maintains the shape of the previous generation, but adds black window frames and new dual five-spoke wheels.

At the rear, a redesigned bumper and BYD letter logo replace the original "Build Your Dreams" text, while the signature full-width taillights enhance its sleek look.

Measuring 4,735mm in length, 1,860mm in width, and 1,710mm in height, with a 2,712mm wheelbase, the new Song Pro DM-i offers a spacious interior.

Inside, the new model continues BYD's classic family-style design, with a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, a large rotatable touchscreen, and rounded rectangular air vents. The color scheme is vibrant, adding a youthful and high-tech feel. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, 3D panoramic view, six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, BYD's DiLink infotainment system, NFC digital keys for both Apple and Android devices, and cloud-based remote control via smartphone. The model also supports advanced functions like remote driving and Bluetooth-based keyless entry.

Powered by BYD's DM 5.0 PHEV-dedicated technology, the second-generation Song Pro DM-i is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine delivering 74 kW, paired with a 120 kW electric motor and BYD's Blade Battery. It offers a battery-powered range of 93 kilometers under the WLTC cycle. The SUV features MacPherson independent front suspension and a four-link independent rear suspension for improved ride comfort and handling.

Meanwhile, the Sealion 05 DM-i, also available in four variants priced between 112,800 yuan and 142,800 yuan, is marketed under BYD's Ocean network.

The vehicle adopts the brand's "Ocean Aesthetic" design language, featuring a large front grille with chrome accents and bold headlights that create a deep visual impact. The side profile showcases a floating roof design with chrome window trim, and dynamic five-spoke wheels that contrast strikingly in black and silver. At the rear, the car features a distinctive full-width taillight design.

The Sealion 05 DM-i's cabin is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen, running the DiLink intelligent system. Its flat-bottom four-spoke steering wheel, crystal gear lever, and a suite of physical buttons around the shifter area, including electric and hybrid mode switches, create a refined, driver-focused space. Additional features include a 50W wireless charging pad, USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports, sports-style front seats with integrated headrests, and a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade.

The Sealion 05 DM-i is also powered by BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid system, featuring a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with 74 kW output and a 120 kW electric motor, combined with an EHS hybrid system and a Blade Battery pack dedicated to PHEVs.
