Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 19, GAC AION's premium brand, HYPTEC, unveiled its heavyweight model, the HYPTEC HT, in a grand launch event held in Bangkok. The new electric SUV had first been previewed for the Thai market at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show in March, where pre-sales began.

Positioned as a "new luxury pure-electric SUV," the HYPTEC HT boasts key selling points in design, space, smart technology, energy efficiency, and performance. Senior product expert Xu Zhaoyu highlighted the vehicle's standout features, including its impressive 620 km range under NEDC conditions, offering a convenient solution for intercity travel. The HYPTEC Smart system also introduces a four-zone independent voice interaction feature, allowing each passenger a personalized smart experience.

This event coincides with the one-year anniversary of GAC AION's brand launch in Thailand. In terms of distribution, GAC AION has already established 50 dealerships across the country, with plans to expand to 70 by the end of this year and 100 by 2025. This growing network aims to provide Thai consumers with enhanced sales and service experiences.

In terms of charging infrastructure, GAC AION stands out as the only Chinese automaker to bring its own energy replenishment system overseas. Since the establishment of GAC Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in May, the company has built eight charging stations, with a goal of reaching 25 stations by the end of this year. By 2027, the company plans to create a supercharging network with 200 stations and 1,000 charging piles across 100 cities in Thailand.

As GAC AION accelerates its global expansion, Thailand has become a focal point in its strategy to penetrate the ASEAN market. The company has already entered nine countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The completion of the AION smart factory in Thailand on July 17 this year marks a major milestone in the carmaker's localization efforts, signifying a new chapter in its internationalization journey.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
