The United States Announces Tariffs on Chinese Lithium Batteries, Electric Vehicles, and More"
On September 13th, the US government released a statement confirming that it will implement a 301 tariff policy against China with effect from September 27th, 2024. This policy significantly increases import tariffs on Chinese products, including a 100% tariff hike on electric vehicles and a 25% tariff on lithium batteries used for new energy vehicles. For lithium-ion batteries not used in electric cars, a 25% tariff will be imposed from January 1st, 2026.
