Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 17, during the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany, BYD and CEVA Logistics announced a strategic partnership focused on logistics and ground transportation in Europe, according to a press release from BYD.

As part of this collaboration, BYD will deliver four pure electric ETH8 trucks by January 2025, supporting CEVA Logistics' efforts to achieve its decarbonization goals.

BYD, a global leader in sustainable transportation, is known for its cutting-edge new energy vehicle technologies and over 29 years of experience in battery R&D. The company has developed a comprehensive range of pure electric trucks. Specifically designed for the European freight logistics market, the ETH8 truck features BYD's proprietary electric truck platform, offering a range of 250 kilometers and fast-charging capabilities. The trucks are highly regarded for their performance, energy efficiency, and low maintenance costs. Once delivered, the four electric trucks will be integrated into CEVA Logistics' existing ground transportation operations in the Netherlands.

As global leaders in our respective fields, both companies are committed to reducing carbon emissions and making logistics systems more sustainable. BYD will continue to introduce a series of pure electric trucks tailored to the European market to support the region’s green transition.”

Sandra Villeminot, global head of sustainability for ground and rail at CEVA Logistics, highlighted the importance of the partnership in achieving their long-term environmental goals. "Decarbonizing our ground transport fleet is a crucial step toward our goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. Our collaboration with BYD is essential for the industry's decarbonization, as we explore more sustainable freight solutions together."

BYD's new energy vehicles are now present in over 90 countries across six continents. Globally, BYD has delivered more than 8 million new energy vehicles, including over 85,000 pure electric commercial vehicles.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
