According to the SMM survey, the weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Xinjiang (accounting for 76% of capacity) was 39,840 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 82%, remaining basically flat WoW. The operating rate of sample silicon enterprises in Xinjiang remained high, while some non-sample silicon enterprises that had previously reduced production did not have production resumption plans recently. Small silicon enterprises still maintained a low operating rate, and the overall operating rate in Xinjiang was still driven up by leading silicon enterprises.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Yunnan (accounting for 30% of capacity) was 7,940 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 93%, slightly declining WoW. Some sample silicon enterprises in Yunnan reduced production this week. Entering mid-September, some silicon enterprises in Yunnan indicated that futures orders might be delivered by the end of this month to the end of October. Many silicon enterprises reported plans to shut down furnaces after completing order deliveries by the end of October.

The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan (accounting for 32% of capacity) was 4,590 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 70%, remaining basically flat WoW. The operating rate of sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan remained stable this week. Recently, the overall operating rate of silicon enterprises in Sichuan was lower than the same period in previous years. Due to market conditions, silicon enterprises shut down furnaces and reduced production earlier than usual, with no subsequent production resumption plans. Most operating silicon enterprises reported weak downstream demand and mediocre order performance this week.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
