NETA Auto, the Chinese new energy vehicle brand under HOZON Auto, announced that a local NETA X vehicle owner became the first in Malaysia to use the JPJePlate.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On September 9, Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) launched the JPJePlate, a license plate dedicated to all-electric vehicles that comes with a built-in RFID chip, and opened bidding for the "EV" series plate numbers. NETA Auto, the Chinese new energy vehicle brand under HOZON Auto, announced that a local NETA X vehicle owner became the first in Malaysia to use the JPJePlate.

The JPJePlate brings several advantages to NETA Auto vehicle owners, including enhanced road safety and exclusive charging subsidies through a partnership with ChargeEV. In the future, owners will also benefit from intelligent tolling features on highways and in parking lots, significantly reducing operating costs and enhancing the driving experience.

In the first half of 2024, electric vehicle registrations in Malaysia surged 150% year over year to around 12,850 units, highlighting the substantial growth potential of the local electric vehicle market.

Earlier this year, NETA Auto broke ground on its new factory in Malaysia, which is scheduled to begin production in early 2025. The Malaysian factory follows the establishment of its plants in Thailand and Indonesia. In July 2024, Malaysia was among the first markets for the Chinese carmaker to launch the NETA X overseas model.

As an early adopter of Malaysia's digitized transportation system, NETA Auto aims to bolster its brand presence in the Malaysian market while supporting the country’s ambition to become a leader in electric mobility and sustainable development in Southeast Asia.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
