【SMM Analysis】Recently, Sungrow signed a significant supply agreement with two major UK developers. According to the agreement, Sungrow will provide 280 PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems for the Hams Hall energy storage project located in North Warwickshire, England.

Sungrow, a leading global supplier of photovoltaic inverters and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), has announced a significant supply agreement with UK developers Penso Power and Luminous Energy. The agreement involves the provision of 280 units of Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled BESS for the Hams Hall energy storage project in North Warwickshire, England, marking a major advancement for Sungrow in the UK's energy storage sector.

The Hams Hall project, a substantial 350MW/1750MWh BESS development, is a collaboration between Penso Power and Luminous Energy, with financial backing from BW ESS. Granted planning consent in May 2022, the project is set to become one of the most significant energy storage installations in the UK and Europe, delivering critical grid-balancing services and bolstering the grid's stability and reliability.

Penso Power, the principal developer of the project, is managing the development process and will oversee operations upon completion. The company is optimistic about the project's capability to provide energy storage services for over five hours, enhancing its market competitiveness and contributing significantly to the UK's energy transformation.

Central to this partnership is Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled BESS, lauded for its innovative integration. This system consolidates a 2.5MW power conversion system and a 5MWh battery within a single container, maximizing space efficiency for developers. The design not only increases energy density but also streamlines the installation and maintenance processes, thereby reducing the project's overall costs.

The PowerTitan 2.0 system incorporates state-of-the-art liquid-cooling technology for optimal heat dissipation, enhancing the system's performance and longevity. Its AI-driven thermal management adjusts cooling strategies based on battery and ambient temperatures, minimizing energy consumption and boosting the system's energy efficiency.

Sungrow's involvement in the Hams Hall project introduces world-class energy storage technology and a wealth of project experience. The company has previously equipped the 100MW/330MWh Bramley project in Hampshire, UK, with its PowerTitan 2.0 BESS, marking Europe's first deployment of this advanced system. The PowerTitan 2.0 system's strengths extend beyond its efficient design and cooling technology to include superior safety features and environmental adaptability. Equipped with comprehensive safety measures, including temperature, smoke, and combustible gas detectors, as well as gas and water-based fire suppression systems, the system ensures reliable operation across diverse environmental conditions.

As the global demand for renewable energy and energy storage solutions surges, Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled BESS system offers robust support for the energy transition in the UK and beyond, underscoring the company's dedication to innovation and sustainable energy solutions.
