Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD has officially released images of its latest model, the Sealion 05 DM-i, a compact plug-in hybrid electric SUV. This marks the second model in the Sealion lineup under BYD's Ocean series, following the Sealion 07 EV.

The Sealion 05 DM-i follows BYD's "Ocean Aesthetics" design philosophy, delivering a youthful and eco-friendly look. Its full-bodied, powerful profile is complemented by marine-inspired details in the headlights, wheels, and other components.

One of the most striking features is the wave-like ripple design of the front grille, which evolves from the classic "X" shape of the Ocean Aesthetics series. The large front grille is framed by chrome accents arranged in a matrix on either side, giving the SUV a bold presence.

The headlamps are sharp and minimalist, perfectly matching the vehicle's front-end style. Inside the lamp housing, elements mirror the grille's chrome design, creating a strong sense of technology. The vertical lines on the LED light cluster contrast with the horizontal lines on the sides, adding intricate detail. The blackened light housings further enhance the car's assertive and deep visual appeal.

The Sealion 05 DM-i features a wave-inspired floating roof design, accented by silver metallic trim around the windows, adding a stylish touch. The vehicle's side profile is sculpted with flowing lines that highlight the SUV’s dynamic and imposing stance. The wheel arches are fitted with bold, dual-tone wheels in black and silver, emphasizing the SUV's sporty and energetic look.

At the rear, the Sealion 05 DM-i boasts a multi-layered design, with a distinctive full-width taillight that offers strong visual recognition when illuminated. A thin linear light strip connects the rear light clusters, creating a harmonious link to the vehicle's front-end design.

According to a prior announcement from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Sealion 05 DM-i measures 4,710mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and 1,720mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,712mm. The new model is expected to feature BYD’s fifth-generation DM super hybrid technology.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
