Limin Chemical Advances Sodium Bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (NaFSI) for Sodium Batteries from Lab to Market, Mirroring LiFSI's Rise in Lithium-Ion Tech

[Sodium Batteries: Limin Chemical's Sodium Bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (NaFSI) Moving from Lab Tech R&D to Deployment] On September 4, 2024, Limin Chemical disclosed on an investor interaction platform that the electrolyte salt for sodium-ion batteries is sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (NaFSI). The company has completed laboratory R&D for this material and is now advancing related deployments. Lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI), serving as an additive to lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6), is typically added in amounts ranging from 0% to 3%. When used as a partial substitute for LiPF6, its usage lies between 3% and 5%. According to the latest research, driven by the need for battery efficiency and safety in semi-solid and solid-state batteries, LiFSI is being employed as the primary salt or additive.

[SMM Energy Storage Battery Cell Market Weekly Review 9.3] Tight copper foil supply constrains September production schedules, energy storage battery cell prices remain firm
[SMM Analysis] Affected by tight copper foil supply and slower-than-expected capacity ramp-up for large-capacity battery cells, China and global energy storage battery cell production growth in September is expected to slow to 4.09% and 4.25% MoM, respectively, but this does not indicate weakening end-use demand. Supply-demand conditions for energy storage battery cells remain tight, with 314Ah battery cell prices holding steady. Shipments are expected to rise steadily going forward, with prices continuing their stable-to-higher trend.

CATL Chairman: China's NEV Sales Surpass 7.4M in H1, Emphasizes Precision in Battery Production
CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun, in a video address to the 2026 World Power Battery Conference, said that in H1 this year, China's NEV sales exceeded 7.4 million units, with over 600 new models launched, averaging nearly three per day. Everyone is competing on speed, specifications, and price, and development cycles are getting shorter. He noted that power batteries require extremely high precision and have very low tolerance for error. In mass production, all small issues are magnified many times over, so every process and every parameter must be strictly controlled from the design stage, anomalies must be identified in advance, and there must be zero tolerance for quality problems.
