Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 31, 2024, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) and Yanfeng signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai, establishing a comprehensive partnership across various fields, including technology, products, teams, and supply chain management. This collaboration aims to further deepen and broaden the cooperation between the two companies.

Both parties highlighted that this strategic agreement marks a significant milestone in their international partnership, setting the stage for a new beginning in creating high-quality, low-carbon, green, and healthy automotive solutions.

The collaboration between Yanfeng and SGMW dates back to the joint development of the SPARK model in 2004. In 2011, Yanfeng set up a factory in Liuzhou city to co-develop Wuling and Baojun series vehicles with SGMW. Following Chinas Belt and Road Initiative, Yanfeng expanded its partnership with SGMW by establishing a manufacturing facility in Indonesia in 2017, further extending their joint efforts into international markets.

As they embark on this new phase of development, the two companies plan to strengthen their partnership in several key areas. In product R&D, Yanfeng and SGMW will integrate their R&D teams and technological resources to create more innovative and competitive automotive components and complete vehicle solutions. Their close collaboration is expected to accelerate the application of new technologies and the iterative updating of products to meet the increasingly diverse and personalized needs of consumers.

In the manufacturing sector, the partnership will leverage SGMW's efficient production systems and Yanfeng's stringent quality control standards to jointly enhance production efficiency and product quality, ensuring that every vehicle meets high standards of excellence and reliability.

The two companies will also deepen cooperation in technological innovation, particularly in enhancing the user experience for new energy vehicles. They will inject more cutting-edge technological elements into the Wuling Xingguang S and Baojun Yunhai models, aiming to boost the brand influence of these two vehicles.

In terms of supply chain management and market expansion, the duo will work together to optimize resource allocation, expand market channels, and enhance brand influence, ultimately offering consumers superior and more convenient services.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
