Media reports indicate that Toyota Motor Corporation and BMW Group have established a comprehensive partnership. Toyota will supply BMW with key components such as hydrogen tanks, while BMW plans to launch mass-produced fuel cell vehicles within the next few years. Both parties also intend to jointly develop hydrogen refueling infrastructure in Europe.
Toyota is actively advancing the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles, aiming to sell 200,000 units in major markets like China and Europe by 2030. The company has already released the Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, with an official guidance price of 748,000 yuan.
On the other hand, BMW previously experimented with internal combustion engine vehicles fueled by hydrogen but has now shifted its focus to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The company believes that converting hydrogen into electricity is more feasible, sharing similar technical preferences with Toyota.
In recent years, Haima Automobile has also embarked on the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and signed a cooperation framework agreement with Toyota in March last year to collaborate in the research and development as well as industrialization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
