Beijing (Gasgoo)- On August 28, Dongfeng Motor’s Forthing brand officially opened presale for the Xinghai S7 (name in Chinese pinyin), a premium electric sedan, which is set to officially hit the market on September 20.

The Xinghai S7 is part of Forthing's high-end new energy series and showcases the brand’s latest technologies. The model is available in two variants in presale, the Yuexiang Edition priced at 129,800 yuan and the Shexiang Edition at 139,900 yuan. Both variants offer the same range, power, and L2+ assisted driving capabilities, with the Shexiang Edition featuring additional corner radar, DMS facial recognition fatigue monitoring, and 12 speakers.

The Xinghai S7, positioned as a mid-to-large electric sedan, measures 4,935 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. It provides ample front and rear seating space, while the rear seats can fold flat to form a 1.9-meter bed. The vehicle features 27 storage spaces, including a front trunk.

The exterior boasts a fluid aesthetic design, a closed front fascia, a fastback shape, frameless doors, and hidden door handles. With a drag coefficient of just 0.191 Cd and an energy consumption of 11.9 kWh per 100 km under WLTC standards, it demonstrates impressive efficiency.

The interior adopts a wraparound cockpit design with a minimalist, tech-focused aesthetic, featuring a dual-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and electronic gear shift. It includes an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch floating central control screen, 50W wireless fast charging, and a 1.9-square-meter panoramic sunroof. The seats are designed with eight layers of foam for comfort during long drives.

The model for presale offers a single-motor rear-wheel drive configuration with a 160-kW peak power output, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 6.67 seconds, and delivering a CLTC-rated range of 555 km. The automaker disclosed that the Xinghai S7 will release an extended-range version in the future.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
