Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 28, Shanghai Chengtou Group Corporation ("Shanghai Chengtou") and CATL held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Shanghai, according to a post on CATL's WeChat account.

The agreement outlines plans for collaboration in several key areas, including the battery recycling industry, urban smart energy replenishment networks, the electrification of urban sanitation vehicles and equipment, distributed low-carbon energy stations integrating solar power, energy storage, and charging infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.

On the same day, subsidiaries of both Shanghai Chengtou and CATL signed related agreements. Shanghai Chengtou Highway Investment teamed up with CATL's QIJI Energy and Shanghai Xin Shi Dai ("Xin Shi Dai" is in Chinese Pinyin) to jointly develop a heavy-duty truck charging and battery-swapping network, creating a "green corridor" for cleaner transportation. Additionally, Shanghai Chengtou Asset Management entered into an agreement with CATL's subsidiary, Brunp Recycling, to promote the establishment of a circular economy system for new energy vehicles and power batteries in Shanghai.

Shanghai Chengtou focuses on four major business segments: road and bridge infrastructure, water services, environmental management, and real estate development. The group is committed to ensuring the successful execution of major projects and maintaining the safe operation of the city, contributing to Shanghai's transformation into a modern, globally influential metropolis. Leveraging its technological expertise, CATL aims to work closely with Shanghai Chengtou to promote the development of a "zero-waste city" in Shanghai and accelerate the city’s efforts to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
