SMM: Steel Market Slumps Further as Blast Furnace Operating Rates Drop to 88.23%

[SMM Blast Furnace Operating Rate: Steel Market Continues to Slump with Increasing Number of Blast Furnaces under Maintenance] According to SMM research, on August 28, the operating rate of blast furnaces in 242 steel plants surveyed by SMM was 88.23%, down 0.56% from the previous month. The blast furnace capacity utilization rate was 89.55%, down 1.03% from the previous month. The average daily output of molten iron in sample steel plants was 2.406 million tons, down 15,000 tons from the previous month.

PDRI sponge iron prices up by 1.05USD/tonne (100INR/tonne) to USD/tonne (29,800INR/tonne) EXW Bellary. Raipur rebar up by 4.23USD/tonne (400INR/tonne) to 476.51USD/tonne (45,000INR/tonne) EXW Raipur.
