Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 27, XPENG officially put the MONA M03 compact sedan, the first production model under its fire new MONA series, onto the market, offering three different trim levels priced from 119,800 yuan to 155,800 yuan. The Max version will start deliveries after the Chinese New Year holiday in 2025.

The MONA M03 adopts a youthful and modern design, featuring T-shaped headlights that enhance its distinctive appearance. A trapezoidal intake grille with an active air intake system (AGS) contributes to its low drag coefficient of just 0.194 Cd. The model comes in five color options: Starry Sand, Starry Blue, Midnight Black, Nebula White, and Twilight Gray.

As for the side profile, the MONA M03 showcases a fastback silhouette complemented by newly designed, stylish alloy wheels.

The rear also features T-shaped taillights, creating a cohesive look with the front.

The car measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm.

Inside, the MONA M03 is equipped with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, with an optional digital instrument cluster. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and 16GB of RAM, it features XPENG's self-developed car operating system. The infotainment system supports a 360-degree panoramic camera view and 3D perception mapping, offering real-time rendered 3D views of roads, surrounding buildings, and even specific landmarks like the National Stadium (Bird's Nest) and the National Center for the Performing Arts.

The MONA M03 introduces a new dynamic island-style information display, similar to the iPhone's, and comes with a real-time road condition monitoring system. An app store offers a range of mini-programs. The car's air conditioning vents stretch across the dashboard, and dual cup holders, a wireless charging pad, and storage slots are located in the armrest area. Additional features include digital wooden fish and cyber prayer beads, designed to serve as stress-relief tools for commuting.

Focusing on user-friendly technology, the MONA M03 features a four-zone intelligent voice control system, allowing both front and rear passengers to control various functions independently. It supports 20-second continuous dialogue and multiple commands simultaneously. The audio system boasts 18 PSS custom speakers configured in a 7.1.4 surround sound setup, with integrated music navigation.

Interior color options include Morning Mist Gray, Noon Blue, and Midnight Gray. The MONA M03 offers a large trunk with a capacity of up to 621 liters, easily accommodating one 28-inch suitcase and four 20-inch suitcases without adjusting the seats. With the rear seats folded, the storage space expands to 1,602 liters. A 1.22-square-meter panoramic sunroof, featuring Low-E laminated glass, blocks 99.9% of UV rays and 97.6% of infrared rays.

The MONA M03 comes with over 20 intelligent sensing components, including 2 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 7 cameras, providing Level 2 advanced driver assistance capabilities and advanced auto-parking features. XPENG said the new model achieves a 95% success rate in parking across various scenarios, including vertical, parallel, and diagonal spaces. The vehicle also handles extreme parking conditions, such as dead-end spots and spaces with side-limit posts, with ease.

Power-wise, the MONA M03 offers two electric motor options, delivering maximum outputs of 140 kW and 160 kW, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 and 7.4 seconds, respectively. Battery options include a 51.8 kWh and a 62.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a range of up to 515 km and 620 km, respectively.

[Two Mandatory EV National Standards Take Effect Tomorrow: Batteries Must Not Catch Fire or Explode]
On July 1, two mandatory national standards—"Safety Requirements for Traction Batteries of Electric Vehicles" (GB 38031-2025) and "Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicles" (GB 18384-2025)—will officially come into force. This marks the first time in China's new energy vehicle sector that both battery‑specific and vehicle‑level core safety standards take effect on the same day. The new battery standard establishes "no fire, no explosion" as a mandatory requirement, replacing the previous technical threshold of "providing an alarm signal 5 minutes before fire or explosion." The updated standard also adds tests including bottom impact testing and safety testing after fast‑charging cycles. The vehicle standard requires the installation of an independent physical one‑button emergency power‑off device. The two standards will be implemented in phases: all newly applied vehicle models submitted after July 1 must fully comply with the new rules, while models already approved and on sale are granted a one‑year transition period until full compliance is required by July 2027. Industry players across the supply chain have already entered the final stages of certification review and production‑line retrofitting.
