Beijing (Gasgoo)- On August 26, Huawei’s smart car alliance Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) held a product launch event in Chengdu. At the event, the AITO M7 Pro, co-developed by SERES and Huawei, officially went on sale, with four variants priced between 249,800 yuan and 289,800 yuan. Additionally, the first coupe SUV co-developed by HIMA and Chery, the LUXEED R7, also made its debut. The LUXEED R7 will be showcased to the public at the upcoming Chengdu Motor Show.

AITO M7 Pro

The AITO M7 Pro is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS base edition, which supports NCA (Navigation Control Assistant) intelligent driving assistance, AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking), and intelligent parking assistance.

The dimensions of the AITO M7 Pro are 5,020 mm in length, 1,945 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

In terms of design, the AITO M7 Pro remains largely unchanged from the current AITO M7  model, with the main modification being the removal of the LiDAR sensor. The vehicle is expected to offer a new deep blue body color option.

The AITO M7 Pro continues to adopt the range-extender powertrain, featuring a 1.5T range extender engine. It is available in two powertrain solutions: a single-motor rear-wheel drive version with a maximum power of 200 kW and a dual-motor all-wheel drive version with a maximum power of 330 kW. Depending on the powertrain and configuration, the vehicle's CLTC-rated battery-powered range stands between 210 km and 240 km, with a combined range of 1,250 km to 1,300 km.

LUXEED R7

As HIMA's first coupe SUV and the second vehicle developed by HUAWEI and Chery, the LUXEED R7 is expected to be priced between 300,000 yuan and 400,000 yuan.

Judging from the official images, the LUXEED R7 adopts a design language similar to that of the LUXEED S7. The headlights are composed of three lenses, and the lower part of the headlights integrates an air duct design to enhance the vehicle's sporty appearance. The vehicle features a closed front fascia with only a lower cooling intake. Additionally, there is a 192-line LiDAR on the roof of the R7.

On the side, the LUXEED R7 has a short overhang, long wheelbase design, and hidden door handles. The vehicle also features a small blue light on the front fender, which is part of its intelligent driving system. The rear of the vehicle has a wide-body design near the rear wheels, and the taillights are similar to those of the LUXEED S7.

In terms of functionality, the LUXEED R7 will be equipped with HUAWEI's latest ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system, featuring a new architecture, all-directional collision avoidance system, high-precision 4D millimeter-wave radar, as well as a new-generation HarmonyOS smart cockpit, car cloud services 3.0, AR-HUD, and a smart lighting module with a million-pixel resolution.

In terms of power, the LUXEED R7 will continue to use HUAWEI’s electric motor system, available in both single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor version will have a maximum power of 215 kW, while the dual-motor version will have a combined maximum power of 365 kW. The vehicle will have a top speed of 200 km/h and be equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack.

South Korea separates EV and battery ownership
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on May 11 that the 8th Mobility Innovation Committee approved 16 agenda items, including demonstrations for an “EV battery subscription service” and “vehicle operation in Gwangju’s autonomous driving demonstration city.” South Korean consumers will be able to purchase only the vehicle body of an electric vehicle and lease the expensive battery separately. In addition, 200 autonomous vehicles to be deployed in Gwangju’s autonomous driving demonstration city will be eligible to apply for temporary operation permits without undergoing the self-certification process.
