China's Steel Plate Imports Decline While Exports Rise in July 2024

In July 2024, China imported a total of 414,900 tonnes of steel plates, a month-on-month decrease of 13.62% and a year-on-year decrease of 28.83%. From January to July 2024, China imported a total of 3,438,800 tonnes of steel plates, a year-on-year decrease of 8.93%.

In July, China exported a total of 5,179,100 tonnes of steel plates, a month-on-month decrease of 10.94% and a year-on-year increase of 10.32%. From January to July 2024, China exported a total of 41,626,800 tonnes of steel products, a year-on-year increase of 25.84%. In July, exports of medium and heavy plates, strip steel, coated plates (strips), electrical steel (strips), and other products saw relatively high year-on-year growth rates.
