Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor recently launched two new all-electric vehicle models, the DONGFENG MAGE EV and the DONGFENG BOX, in Costa Rica’s capital, San José, according to the company’s announcement via WeChat on August 22.

This marks a significant milestone in Dongfeng’s expansion into the Latin American market.

Over the past year, Dongfeng Motor has seen remarkable success in Costa Rica, with local sales soaring 197% year over year in July 2024. The company’s distribution network now spans six key regions in the country, significantly boosting its market share.

The DONGFENG MAGE EV, Dongfeng Motor’s first globally-oriented model, currently offers an all-electric powertrain version, with plans to introduce multiple powertrain options in the future. On the other hand, the DONGFENG BOX battery-electric compact car stands out for its impressive range, spacious interior, and modern design. Both models have already attracted numerous orders at the launch event, underscoring the brand’s strong market appeal.

The successful launch of these models in Costa Rica represents a pivotal step in Dongfeng Motor’s marketing strategy for the Latin American market. The company remains committed to meeting global market demands by continuing to innovate and optimize its services, aiming to deliver efficient, eco-friendly, and intelligent mobility solutions to consumers in Costa Rica and beyond.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
