Beijing (Gasgoo)- FAW-Audi, the joint venture brand between FAW Group and Audi, recently held its 2024 mid-year performance communication meeting, announcing that its cumulative sales have surpassed 9 million vehicles in July, despite facing intense price competition in the automotive market this year.

According to Audi's semi-annual report, Audi's sales in China reached 320,400 vehicles in the first half of 2024, marking a 1.9% year-on-year decline. FAW-Audi, the main contributor, sold 301,600 vehicles, which dipped 4.9% compared to the same period last year. The best-selling model in China remains the Audi A6L, with an average monthly sales volume of over 14,000 units and nearly 100,000 units sold in China from January to July.

To navigate the competitive global market, Audi has launched the Audi Agenda, planning to introduce over 20 models with all-electric, plug-in hybrid, and new-generation internal combustion engine powertrains in 2024 and 2025 to expand and refresh its product lineup.

Under this strategy, Audi has released several new models this year, including the Audi A8L Horch Founder Edition 60TFSI, and the updated Q family models—Q7, SQ7, and Q8. Starting next year, FAW-Audi will roll out key models such as the all-new Audi A5L, Q5L, Q6L e-tron, and A6L e-tron, along with imported models like the Audi A5 Avant, S5, and S5 Avant.

A significant highlight is the Audi A6 e-tron, which made its debut in late July and has already begun pre-sales in Europe. This model is expected to have its wheelbase extended into the next-generation A6L for the Chinese market. While Audi initially planned to designate odd-numbered models as internal combustion engine vehicles and even-numbered models as electric vehicles, the A6L series' 40-year legacy has made it a brand icon for FAW-Audi. As a result, both the fuel-powered A6L and the electric A6 e-tron long-wheelbase version will coexist to meet the diverse needs of Chinese consumers.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
