Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor ("GWM") recently held a regional brand launch event in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, a member country of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), according to a post on GWM's WeChat account.

The event, themed "Hello, Tomorrow," unveiled GWM's new brand philosophy, emphasizing a youthful and dynamic image.

At the launch event, GWM's four major brands—HAVAL, ORA, TANK, and GWM POER—were prominently featured, demonstrating the company's product strength and technological capabilities.

As one of South America's largest economic integration organizations, MERCOSUR is a key market for GWM. Partnering with strong local dealerships, GWM aims to bring cutting-edge smart, safe, and clean technology experiences to users in Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina.

A total of 141 attendees, including media representatives, investors, and key opinion leaders from Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina, witnessed this grand launch event.

In July 2024, GWM recorded a vehicle sales volume of 91,285 units, representing a 16.32% drop year-on-year, according to the company's latest monthly sales results.

Despite the downturn in July sales, GWM saw its Jan.-Jul. sales still climb 3.6% over a year earlier to 650,954 vehicles.

Of the vehicles sold last month, 24,145 units were contributed by the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, resulting in a year-to-date NEV sales volume of 156,519 units, which jumped 28.14% from the previous year.

In addition, GWM's Jan.-Jul. overseas sales surged 58.8% from a year earlier to 239,685 units, 38,185 units of which were sold last month.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
