Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 8th, FAW Toyota held a launch ceremony for the operation of its hydrogen-powered truck project at its plant in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area ("TEDA"), according to a post on TEDA's WeChat account. This initiative is part of the company's commitment to implementing Tianjin city's request on building a green manufacturing system and accelerating the dual-carbon strategy of both shareholders, FAW Group and Toyota.
The hydrogen-powered trucks introduced by FAW Toyota boast several key advantages, including zero emissions, long range, fast refueling, and low noise. According to TEDA's statement, these trucks can cover nearly 1,200 kilometers per day and are expected to reduce carbon emissions by 252 tonnes annually. The trucks also feature comprehensive upgrades in safety, handling, and comfort compared to traditional trucks, ensuring reliable performance for both short-haul and long-distance logistics, thus reducing the carbon footprint of transportation.
FAW Toyota emphasized its commitment to creating cleaner, more efficient, and safer logistics solutions. The introduction of these hydrogen-powered trucks marks not just a transformation in logistics transportation but also a pioneering step towards broader applications of hydrogen energy. The use of hydrogen fuel could potentially extend beyond trucks to passenger vehicles, trains, and nearshore and offshore vessels in the future.
