The leaders of BHP and the Escondida mining area union are sitting down for the final wage mediation negotiations to avoid a strike at the world's largest copper mine. BHP has directly offered higher wage quotations to workers and labor regulatory agencies, including a bonus of $28,900, and claimed that union leaders did not attend the meeting earlier on Monday.
