Aluminum prices surged significantly; wait-and-see sentiment among downstream buyers led to weaker transactions. [Daily Review of Aluminum Billet Spot Market]

Today, SMM A00 spot aluminium prices increased by 200 yuan/mt compared to the previous working day, reaching 19,170 yuan/mt.

Today, SMM A00 spot aluminium prices increased by 200 yuan/mt compared to the previous working day, reaching 19,170 yuan/mt. Foshan A00 aluminium prices were reported at 19,080 yuan/mt, up by 230 yuan/mt from the previous working day. Despite the significant rise in aluminium prices today, the wait-and-see sentiment among downstream buyers in the off-season led to weaker transactions.

Approaching noon, conversion margins of Φ120 and Φ178 aluminum billets in south China were concentrated around 390 yuan/mt, while conversion margins of Φ90 billets were at 440 yuan/mt, down by 50 yuan/mt from the previous working day. The Wuxi market saw sluggish transactions, with noon-time conversion margins of Φ120 aluminum billets at 350 yuan/mt and Φ90 small billets at 450 yuan/mt, both flat compared to the previous working day. In Nanchang, conversion margins for Φ120 billets were reported at 400 yuan/mt and for Φ90 billets at 460 yuan/mt, down by 40 yuan/mt from the previous working day. In Linyi, Shandong, the weekly average conversion margins increased by 30 yuan/mt compared to the previous week, with the weekly average price of Φ120 aluminum billets around 260 yuan/mt.
