【SMM Analysis:SiMn Production Losses: Industry Meeting Calls for Self-Reduction】Although the price of manganese ore slightly decreased in July, it remains high, leading to elevated SiMn production costs. SiMn alloy producers are experiencing losses, and the entire industry is facing severe losses. Currently, SiMn producers have a weak willingness to sell, with many suspending quotations. Supply side, SiMn producers in south China, affected by production losses, have a strong willingness to reduce or halt production. However, the reduction in north China has not met expectations. Demand side, downstream steel mills, affected by high temperatures and other factors, have also shown some reduction or suspension in production, leading to low enthusiasm for purchasing SiMn. Overall, the SiMn market remains in a state of oversupply, and SiMn prices continue to weaken. To promote the healthy development of the manganese alloy market, alloy enterprises held a meeting. Due to the current nationwide monthly production of SiMn alloy still exceeding demand, resulting in social inventory backlog, the enterprises attending the Inner Mongolia meeting agreed to strengthen industry self-discipline to prevent "involution" vicious competition. Starting from August, they plan to autonomously reduce production to support the market price, expecting a 30% reduction based on the current production levels. Additionally, they aim for rational production and sales, firmly resisting malicious market shorting and unreasonable price suppression in alloy procurement, to jointly promote and maintain a long-term healthy market environment.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
