Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 31, autonomous driving solution provider Pony.ai and global multi-modal transport operator ComfortDelGro Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the 14th Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council Meeting. The partnership aims to accelerate the large-scale commercial deployment of autonomous taxis (Robotaxis).

Pony.ai has pioneered city-level deployment of fully unmanned driving services in China, with approvals to operate unmanned Robotaxis in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. ComfortDelGro, with a global taxi fleet of over 29,000 vehicles, brings extensive operational experience and fleet management capabilities.

This collaboration marks a significant innovation in global mobility, showcasing a new cooperative model for large-scale autonomous vehicle deployment. Together, the two companies will develop safe and sustainable Robotaxi solutions, preparing for further global market expansion.

For ComfortDelGro, partnering with Pony.ai is a strategic step towards fulfilling its broad growth strategy and building future development capabilities. In 2022, ComfortDelGro invested SGD 30 million (approximately RMB 160 million) to establish the Autonomous Vehicle Centre of Excellence (AV CoE), focusing on developing operational and maintenance capabilities for autonomous vehicle fleets and creating a technical platform for future autonomous mobility services.

This collaboration also highlights Pony.ai's ongoing efforts in its globalization strategy. The company has already initiated autonomous driving technology partnerships and deployments in countries such as South Korea, Luxembourg, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
