Aptiv's Wind River software project finds home in Shanghai’s Jiading district

On July 30, a signing ceremony was held for the establishment of Aptiv's Wind River software project in Jiading district, Shanghai city.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 30, a signing ceremony was held for the establishment of Aptiv's Wind River software project in Jiading district, Shanghai city, where Anting town and Aptiv China signed a cooperation framework agreement.

Under the agreement, both parties will leverage their respective strengths in the automotive industry to support Jiading district's goal of becoming a globally influential technology innovation hub and a world-class automotive industry center. Aptiv will utilize its leading expertise in mobility and automotive software to support the establishment of the Wind River software project in Anting town.

Founded in 1981, Wind River is a provider of intelligent edge software. Its software is currently used in over 2 billion edge devices by more than 1,700 customers worldwide, enabling the secure development, deployment, operation, and service of critical intelligent systems. Wind River's edge-to-cloud software portfolio, based on the Wind River Studio, serves the aerospace, defense, telecommunications, industrial, and automotive markets.

In December 2022, Aptiv completed the acquisition of Wind River for approximately 25.2 billion yuan, making Wind River a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aptiv.

Aptiv has had a longstanding relationship with Jiading district since it entered the Chinese market. Over the past 30 years, Aptiv has established multiple operational, R&D, and manufacturing centers in Jiading, including Aptiv Electrical Centers (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Aptiv Electric Systems Company Ltd. in Anting town.
