Novelis, a leading company in the global aluminum sheet and recycling sector, has taken a significant step towards a more sustainable future by making a major investment in its Latchford facility in the UK. The company has pledged to invest US$90 million to significantly boost its recycling capacity for used beverage cans (UBCs) and reduce carbon emissions in aluminum sheet production. The investment will enable Novelis' Latchford plant to process 85,000 tonnes of used aluminum cans annually, exceeding its current capacity. The expansion project encompasses the construction of new dross houses, the installation of three new bag filters, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, all aimed at enhancing the plant's capacity and efficiency in handling aluminum scrap.
