On July 26, the first batch of 500 AION Y Plus vehicles destined for Indonesia was loaded and shipped from the Port of Xinsha, Guangzhou.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Following the inauguration of its Thai factory on July 17, GAC AION has accelerated its progress in the Indonesian market. On July 26, the first batch of 500 AION Y Plus vehicles destined for Indonesia was loaded and shipped from the Port of Xinsha, Guangzhou, according to a post on the carmaker's WeChat account.

Indonesia, rich in resources and with strong economic growth, is the largest country by population and the largest economy in Southeast Asia. It also boasts the region's largest automobile market, with the only market in Southeast Asia reaching millions in vehicle sales annually, indicating enormous potential.

Additionally, Indonesia's abundant nickel reserves are advantageous for the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry. In April this year, GAC AION officially entered the Indonesian market and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with leading local automotive group INDOMOBILE. This partnership covers various fields, including vehicle manufacturing, automotive sales and services, finance, energy ecosystems, mobility markets, and the entire supply chain.

In response to the rapidly growing Indonesian market, GAC AION is currently exporting complete vehicles to meet the high demand for pure electric cars among local consumers. Concurrently, the construction of its Indonesian factory is progressing, with completion and production expected around the end of this year. Once operational, GAC AION will offer more competitive products through localized production.

With dual factories in Thailand and Indonesia as the core, the company aims to cater to the Southeast Asian market and extend its reach to other global markets.

In addition to the AION Y Plus, other key models, such as the second-generation AION V, are also expected to enter the Indonesian market.

Since 2023, GAC AION has accelerated its overseas expansion strategy, entering 19 countries and regions in the first half of 2024. Looking ahead, GAC AION plans to enter markets in Qatar, Mexico, and beyond.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
