Beijing (Gasgoo)- LiDAR solution provider Hesai Technology on July 25 announced a partnership with SAIC General Motors (SAIC-GM) to supply AT series automotive-grade long-range LiDAR for the latter's upcoming car models.

Aside from SAIC-GM, the LiDAR maker also announced cooperation with Audi, and Ford’s joint-venture brand in China. Their respective cooperative car models will begin mass production from 2025.

This collaboration comes as SAIC-GM ramps up its transformation efforts in electrification and intelligent connectivity, with a planned investment of 70 billion yuan in new technologies by 2025.

SAIC-GM plans to launch 12 new energy vehicle models between 2024 and 2025, including Ultium Platform-based battery electric vehicles and a new generation of smart PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) to cater to diverse market demands. In the realm of intelligent connectivity, SAIC-GM’s new generation of its Super Cruise advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is being rapidly deployed across its product lineup. Moreover, the automaker also plans on introducing more advanced intelligent assistance features designed to provide a smart, safe, and reliable driving experience.

Hesai's AT series LiDAR is built on a self-developed chip architecture, featuring a highly integrated transceiver module and a stable one-dimensional mirror scanning solution. This technology supports a range of autonomous driving systems from ADAS to L4, offering high-confidence, all-weather 3D perception, making it a critical component of intelligent driving systems. Since it began mass production and delivery in 2022, the AT128 has been successfully integrated into several popular new energy vehicle models in China, with over 350,000 units delivered by the first quarter of 2024.
