Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 24, Hon Hai Technology Group, the world’s leading electronics manufacturer, announced that its subsidiary, Foxconn Technology Group ("Foxconn"), has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the government of Henan province.
According to the agreement, the Henan government will support Foxconn in establishing a new business headquarters in its capital city, Zhengzhou. Leveraging its core competencies in smart manufacturing and its extensive global technological resources and supply chain advantages, Foxconn aims to accelerate the development of electric vehicles, energy storage batteries, digital health, and robotics industries in Henan province. The goal is to create a global high-end manufacturing industrial chain and an ecosystem for strategic emerging industries.
As part of this initiative, Foxconn will invest in constructing a new headquarters building in Zhengzhou. The first phase of the project will be located in Zhengdong New Area, covering an area of approximately 700,000 square meters, with a total investment of about 1 billion yuan. The headquarters will house seven key centers: the headquarters management center, R&D and engineering center, strategic industry development center, strategic industry financial platform, industry research institute and key talent center, marketing center, and supply chain management center.
The company said the strategic cooperation will focus on the implementation of Foxconn's "3+3" strategy, emphasizing the development of three emerging industries—electric vehicles, digital health, and robotics—and three new technology fields—artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and next-generation mobile communications. This collaboration will encompass development planning, core technology research, industrial investment and management, project incubation, market expansion and customer development, talent acquisition and training, and the creation of an industrial ecosystem. Key projects, such as an electric vehicle prototyping center and solid-state battery initiatives, will be prominently developed in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone.
The NEV prototyping center will feature a high-end demonstration NEV production line. This center will serve as a showcase platform providing manufacturing services to renowned automotive brands both domestically and internationally. It is poised to become a world-class lighthouse factory in the entire vehicle sector, laying a robust foundation for the mass production of new energy vehicles. The goal is to establish the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone as the core production base for Foxconn's NEV segment.
In line with the latest industry trends, Foxconn will develop the solid-state battery business within the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone. This initiative will focus on the R&D and manufacturing of solid electrolytes, semi-solid, and all-solid-state battery cells.
