Vale Base Metals will open a new copper-nickel mine in Ontario" - Vale Base Metals will open a new open-pit mine in the historic Stobie mining area in Sudbury, Ontario. The project is expected to cost CAD 205 million (USD 149 million) in the next four years. The new mining area, Stobie, will produce nickel and copper, with an initial production target of 300,000 tons of nickel and copper this year, gradually increasing to 1.5 million tons by 2025, and maintaining continuous production in 2027 or 2028. The project will also generate valuable by-products such as cobalt and precious metals.
