Xiaomi unveils SU7 Ultra Prototype with 1,548 horsepower

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 19, Mr. Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group, delivered his fifth annual speech in Beijing, themed "Courage." During the speech, he reflected on Xiaomi's decision to enter the automotive industry, detailing the challenges and perseverance involved. Additionally, Xiaomi unveiled a series of new products, with the highlight being the highly anticipated the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype vehicle, showcasing Xiaomi's pinnacle of automotive technology with its three electric motors and a staggering maximum output of 1,548 horsepower.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype is a performance vehicle embodying Xiaomi's cutting-edge technology. Featuring a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system, it boasts 1,548 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds. The vehicle is equipped with a race-specific battery pack and an extensive use of carbon fiber, covering 15 square meters across 24 components. This design results in a total weight of 1,900 kg, lighter than some production cars of similar size.

In terms of exterior design, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype features exclusive body kits, a longer, wider, and lower stance, and a unique "Lightning Yellow" paint with custom decals designed by Mr. Lei Jun himself. The vehicle also includes a large rear diffuser and a fixed race-spec rear wing, providing a maximum downforce of 2,145 kg.

Powering the SU7 Ultra Prototype are dual V8s paired with a V6 electric motor, enabling a top speed of 350 km/h. The prototype also incorporates CATL’s high-efficiency battery pack and race-specific braking system, achieving a 100-0 km/h braking distance of just 25 meters.

Mr. Lei Jun also announced Xiaomi's production and distribution plans, projecting an annual output of 100,000 units, expected to be completed ahead of schedule by November this year. Moreover, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype will take on the Nürburgring as a non-mass-produced vehicle in October this year. Its mass-produced version will try out the race track in 2025.
