Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 17, Changan Mazda's first all-electric B-segment sedan, the MAZDA EZ-6, rolled off the production line at its Nanjing plant. This milestone, alongside the signing of a new energy project cooperation agreement, marks a significant step in Changan Mazda’s new energy vehicle transition strategy.

China remains one of Mazda’s most critical markets. In April 2023, Mazda announced its China market transformation plan, partnering with Changan Automobile to establish a new cooperative model aimed at transitioning Changan Mazda towards new energy vehicles (NEVs). Over the past year, the parent companies reformed their product development approaches, investing nearly 10 billion yuan in capital, talent, and equipment. This led to the creation of the “Joint Venture 2.0” collaboration model, leveraging Changan's expertise in electrification and intelligence to enhance Mazda's century-old car-making legacy.

The EZ-6 is the latest fruit of this collaboration, retaining Mazda's signature design, "Jinba Ittai" driving pleasure, and top-tier safety features, while incorporating Changan's advanced electrification and intelligent technologies. The EZ-6 offers both battery-electric (BEV) and range-extended (REEV) powertrains, making Changan Mazda joint venture brand to offer B-segment REEV sedan in China.

Equipped with four megapixel panoramic cameras and twelve high-performance ultrasonic radars, the EZ-6 can identify 108 types of parking spaces, including vertical, horizontal, angled, and unmarked. It features five intelligent parking functions: automatic parking, remote parking, remote entry and exit, intelligent remote parking, and track-back reversing, providing users with a highly intelligent and convenient parking experience.

With the signing of the new energy project cooperation agreement as a starting point, Changan Mazda plans to further invest over 10 billion yuan in the R&D for NEVs, accelerating the development of subsequent models. This initiative aims to drive high-quality, sustainable growth in China's NEV industry, contributing significantly to the global automotive sector.
