Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 17, GAC Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Spark EV Co. Ltd. signed a framework cooperation agreement in Bangkok to promote the deployment of energy replenishment network in Thailand.

According to the agreement, the two companies will jointly invest in the construction and operation of supercharging stations at key locations such as transportation hubs, gas stations, and major intercity travel routes across Thailand.

The collaboration will extend to comprehensive energy solutions, cross-industry integration, as well as digitalization and vehicle-grid interaction. The goal is to integrate Thailand's transportation and energy networks, creating a multifaceted energy space that combines photovoltaic, energy storage, electric vehicle charging facilities, leisure cafes, and new energy vehicle marketing experiences. The partnership aims to establish a demonstration project in Thailand, creating a new energy ecosystem that integrates people, vehicles, energy, and lifestyle.

The initial phase of the partnership involves nine projects that have already undergone surveys and commenced construction. These projects will facilitate platform interconnectivity between the two companies, leading to expanded joint ventures and research collaborations. The goal is to accelerate the development of Thailand's electric vehicle charging network and promote comprehensive energy services at charging stations, as well as automotive after-sales services and customer services, thus alleviating range anxiety for new energy vehicle users and enhancing service value and customer experience.

Aligned with GAC AION's globalization strategy, GAC Energy is dedicated to improving Thailand's charging infrastructure and energy ecosystem. Together with its partners, GAC Energy is building a fast, extensive, and accessible supercharging network in Thailand. To date, seven fast-charging stations have been completed and put into operation, with plans to build 25 public charging stations by the end of the year. By 2028, the network aims to establish 200 stations with 1,000 charging piles across 100 cities in Thailand.

Spark EV, a joint venture set up by Hong Kong's Cornerstone Technologies Holdings Limited in Thailand, has previously signed a landmark long-term business cooperation agreement with one of Thailand's largest oil station groups, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited (Bangchak). This agreement involves the installation, operation, and maintenance of a nationwide electric vehicle charging station network at Bangchak’s gas stations, with a total layout of 1,000 locations.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
