Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 17, GAC AION announced the completion and commencement of operations at its new smart factory in Rayong, Thailand. At the factory, it also celebrated the global rollout of the second-generation AION V.
Designed as a high-intelligence data-driven facility, GAC AION's Thailand factory leverages such technologies as big data, AI, IoT, and visual recognition to enable 100% interconnectivity of data across the production line. The smart manufacturing algorithms employed at the factory have amassed millions of production and sales data points, allowing real-time optimization of production schedules, making the manufacturing process increasingly intelligent.
According to GAC AION, the factory boasts AI-enhanced machine vision technology, ensuring comprehensive quality control of all components. Complemented by ultrasonic testing and 3D visual tracking, these non-destructive techniques ensure zero defects and flawless products. Moreover, the new factory is the only facility in Thailand that integrates photovoltaic power generation with smart energy storage, ultra-fast charging, and battery recycling, significantly reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable development.
With the inauguration of the Thailand smart factory, GAC AION's first global-oriented model, the AION V, also rolled off the production line. The automaker said this vehicle incorporates 23 leading technologies, including 400V+3C fast charging, and offers eight core user benefits, such as intelligent global map-free navigation.
The completion of the Thailand smart factory marks the beginning of GAC AION's two-pronged strategy of exporting vehicles and local production. The company plans to introduce its latest technologies and products in Thailand, while establishing a "lighthouse factory" system to enhance the local production capacity of new energy vehicles and upgrade the industrial ecosystem.
Beyond this milestone, GAC AION said it is committed to improving its electric vehicle charging infrastructure and energy ecosystem in Thailand, accelerating local talent development partnerships, and fostering upstream and downstream industry collaboration.
