The two companies’ new joint automotive brand will be named Zunjie (in Chinese pinyin), dispelling previous rumors of the name Aojie.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 15, Yu Chengdong, Chairman of Huawei's Consumer BG and the Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, disclosed on a live broadcast the latest developments in Huawei's car-making collaboration with JAC Group. The two companies’ new joint automotive brand will be named "Zunjie" (in Chinese pinyin), dispelling previous rumors of the name "Aojie."

This announcement completes the naming of Huawei's collaborations with four car manufacturers. The other three brands are Wenjie (AITO in English) with SERES, Zhijie (LUXEED) with Chery, and Xiangjie (STELATO) with BAIC Group.

On the other hand, JAC Group recently also shared updates at the 2024 China Auto Forum. Xiang Xingchu, Chairman and General Manager of JAC Group, stated that the collaboration with Huawei is progressing rapidly. He revealed that their first vehicle has entered the comprehensive testing phase and is scheduled for production by the end of this year, with market launch expected in the first half of 2025. Development of subsequent models is also underway.

In March, Yu Chengdong hinted that the first model under the Zunjie brand would be priced at a premium, competing with ultra-luxury brands like Maybach and Rolls-Royce. To achieve this, Huawei and JAC Group have developed a new platform and smart electric architecture, planning multiple products. Their partnership, which began in 2019, has now seen the near completion of a factory with an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
