SAIC-GM-Wuling, China Unicom forge strategic partnership

On July 10, SAIC-GM-Wuling and China Unicom signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to leverage SAIC-GM-Wuling's auto manufacturing expertise and China Unicom's communication technology to advance intelligent connected vehicle technology and expand cooperation in products, marketing, smart logistics, and manufacturing systems.

Dongfeng Motor's senior executive joins FAW Group as vice president

On July 11, China FAW Group announced the appointment of Mr. Chen Bin as Vice President and Member of the CPC FAW Group Standing Committee. Mr. Chen brings 26 years of experience from Dongfeng Motor, where he served as assistant to the president of DONGFENG Automobile Group Co. Ltd, General Manager and Party Committee Secretary of DPCA.

FAW-Volkswagen’s new-generation Magotan hits market

On July 9, the new generation of the Magotan was officially released to the market at FAW-Volkswagen's Changchun plant. The all-new Magotan, offered with 1.5T EVO2 and 2.0T high-power engines, is available in three variants with prices ranging from 179,900 yuan to 246,900 yuan.

RoboSense achieves 487.7% YoY soar in H1 2024 LiDAR sales

On July 10, smart LiDAR solution developer RoboSense announced that in the first half of 2024, it sold approximately 243,400 LiDAR units, marking a year-on-year soar of 415.7%. Of these, around 234,500 units were automotive LiDAR, representing a 487.7% surge from a year ago.

FAW-VW’s new car model goes into trial production at Tianjin plant

FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. ("FAW-VW") recently commenced trial production of its new model at the plant in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area ("TEDA"), according to a post on TEDA's WeChat account. The new vehicle is expected to enter official volume production in the second half of this year.

Shanghai issues action plan for boosting car renewal, consumption

In alignment with the "Action Plan to Promote Large-Scale Equipment Renewal and Trade-In of Consumer Goods" by China's State Council' and the "Action Plan to Promote Trade-In of Consumer Goods" by 14 departments including China's Ministry of Commerce, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce has launched the "Shanghai Action Plan to Accelerate Automobile Renewal and Consumption (2024-2027)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Action Plan") to accelerate vehicle retirement and renewal while optimizing the automotive market structure.

BAIC Group sells 771,000 new vehicles in H1 2024

On July 9, BAIC Group announced that it sold a total of 771,000 vehicles in the first half of 2024, with June sales reaching 148,000 units, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 11.44%.

JAC Group’s EV 3 model hits UAE market

On July 2, 2024, Chinese automaker JAC Group officially put its first DI platform-powered electric vehicle, the E30X (known as EV 3 in China), onto the UAE market. The launch event took place at La Perle Theatre in Al Habtoor City, Dubai.
