Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 8th, Continental AG announced that the Phase II expansion project of its factory in Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Changchun city, Jilin province (called "Jingyue factory" for short) has officially commenced operations.

The Phase II expansion project adds approximately 10,000 square meters of new factory space. The expansion will include multiple new automated surface-mount technology production lines and fully automated assembly lines for producing various products such as zone controllers, intelligent battery sensors, acceleration sensors, and ultra-wideband transceiver modules. Additionally, the factory will introduce advanced industrial technologies to continuously enhance operational levels.

Specifically, the Jingyue factory will further deepen and expand the use of intelligent and digital tools in the new facility, including automated guided vehicles (aAGVs), collaborative robots (cobots), and big data platforms. These tools will further improve the factory's smart manufacturing capabilities. Simultaneously, the new facility's roof will feature a photovoltaic power generation system and will be designed and constructed according to the LEED green building certification standards, with full operation expected by 2025.

Established in 2012, Continental's Jingyue factory covers a total area of approximately 150,000 square meters. The factory primarily produces high-performance computing units, in-car intelligent communication systems, keyless entry systems, airbag controllers, zone controllers, headlight control units, and seat control units, providing products and services to over 100 customers.

Continental AG stated that the Jingyue factory is one of its most important production bases for the automotive sub-group in Asia, producing a variety of innovative products. The start of operations for the expansion project will better serve the Asian market, meet the needs of modern customers, and support the enhancement of operational competitiveness for the groups global factories. Looking ahead, Continental AG will continue to implement innovative technologies and solutions in China and specifically in Changchun.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
