Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 4, Chinese battery giant CATL launched its new commercial vehicle power battery brand Tianxing, which will be initially implemented in JAC Group's (JAC) new energy vehicles.

The Tianxing products bring together four key technological advantages: ultra-safety, ultra-fast charging, long lifespan, and extended range. These features are tailored to meet the demands of commercial vehicle users, offering durability, efficiency, and profitability under the brand.

JAC Group said the introduction of Tianxing batteries underscores its ongoing innovation in the new energy commercial vehicle sector, promising enhanced performance and user experience for JAC's new energy products.

In January 2024, JAC and CATL formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement, covering power battery supply, battery swapping technology integration, and the development and application of new technologies. Since the signing of the agreement, CATL has leveraged its technological prowess and product advantages to provide JAC with highly integrated, high-performance power battery solutions. Concurrently, JAC has utilized its market insights and product development capabilities to incorporate CATL's battery technology into a variety of new energy commercial light-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, passenger cars, and buses.

Looking ahead, both companies will further strengthen and deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership. They aim to enhance cooperation in new energy vehicle development, R&D team formation, brand promotion, product marketing, quality cultivation, customer service, and talent development.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
